Old Faded Photographs

     In the picture, the grandfather sat by the window with his three grandchildren. The youngest sat upon her grandfather? knee while the other two sat cross-legged on the floor listening as their grandpa told them stories about kindly old wizards and children that ventured unto the woods to dance and play with the forest creatures.

     The tree children never forgot their grandfather and always cherished the memories they had. Even long after their grandpa had passed away and they had all grown up, they still remembered. But no matter how hard they tried, they could not find the picture. They scoured the photo albums and searched every nook and cranny of the old house, but they could never recover the photograph.

     "Where did you get that picture?" Fred asked.

     "Oh, I don? know, it just came with the frame

Flashback

     He heard them shouting from behind him, but he ignored it entirely. He was already late for his appointment. He was too busy to be distracted by what the other pedestrians were so frantic about.

     And then there was a blinding flash and he remembered his seventh birthday party with all his friends running around the house playing tag. He remembered his first kiss and how he hit his head against hers and got embarrassed and ran. He remembered the picnic where he proposed to Jessica and where they had the wedding three months later. He remembered walking into the delivery room and seeing his baby daughter for the first time.

     Then the bus hit him.
